Coming Attractions: Looking
Ahead at the Co-op
At
the Co-op, we've got big plans for the future. In accordance with our
mission to provide our members with the best energy choices at reasonable prices,
we hope to provide these additional services in the not too distant
future:
- Propane:
Because gas furnaces are relatively inexpensive to purchase and install,
many new homes use propane for space and water heating, and many existing
homes also use it for cooking. For these reasons, we hope to add
propane to our product line and to offer Co-op membership to households
that use it.
- Energy Bill Management:
Many Vermonters find it difficult if not impossible to add insulation,
replace old and inefficient furnaces and purchase new, energy-efficient
appliances - even though these investments save money in the long
run. Working with organizations like the Opportunities Credit Union and Efficiency Vermont we will help our members finance these
and other investments in energy efficiency.
- New Service Areas:
From our office in Northwestern Vermont, we hope to soon extend our
service area south and east in order to offer more Vermonters access
to affordable energy.
- Electricity:
Unlike many states, Vermont's electricity industry remains regulated
and closed to competition. If at some future date Vermont residents
are able to choose their electricity supplier, we may decide to offer
Co-op members electricity from clean, renewable sources like wind,
small-scale hydro, solar and landfill gas.
